about the artist
He was born in Valdecaballeros (Badajoz), in 1938, Francisco Revelles developed his artistic sense from very small. During his childhood he moves to Madrid, where he receives his first painting lessons of the versatile artist Luis Lucas.
With only 14 years, it enters the Central School of Arts and Offices of Madrid. There it had professors of Drawing like Antonio Soli's Avila and Jose Suárez Peregrín. Years later, he joined to the Spanish Grouping of Watercolorists of Madrid, where it perfected its technique of the hand of artists like Manuel Martinez Lamadrid, Julio Quesada, Julio Visconti and Jose Azpilicueta Abbot. He was professor of Landscape in this organization during two courses.
In 1970, Revelles moved to Puerto Rico with his wife, Lavinia, and first of its six children. In the Caribbean island he exposed in the best galleries and he shared work and friendship with the greatest Puerto Rican artists, like Augusto Marin, Rafael Tufiño, Lorenzo Homar and Rafael Motta, among others. During five years, the artist shaped on paper the best landscapes of the Caribbean Island and obtained that his work comprised of important pictorial collections. (Los Angeles Contemporary Art Museum, The White House, etc.)
In 1975, Francisco Revelles decided to return to Spain and he did it settling in the Madrileña locality of Colmenar Viejo, where also he would fix its study of art. With the years, the work of Revelles obtained as important recognitions as the National Prize of Watercolor of Caja Madrid, that was granted to him in two occasions.
After infinity of individual exhibitions, as of 1993, the watercolorist introduces itself in the circuit of the fast painting contests. Actually totality of the municipalities where they are celebrated the artist obtained the most important awards. The last one indeed in Painting National Contest of Sigüenza where it was raised the past with first prize 17 of August of 2003
Six days later, the 23 of August, when it get ready to initiate the watercolor with which it was going to participate in the Fast Painting Contest of San Pedro de Gaíllos (Segovia), Francisco Revelles died suddenly.
